Hey everyone I just joined this group but have loved everything that people have posted on it.

So in an attempt to contribute I have decided to share this video that I found and I hope that everyone likes it.

Warning if you don't like Dane Cook then do not watch this video, there might be some language so little kids shouldn't watch.

pregnancy paranoia

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 2:05 PM
Ok, so recently I have been feeling paranoid each cycle that I may be pregnant, and this paranoia has increased in a direct relation to my cluckiness over the past few months. I have regular cycles that vary only by a couple of days, but if I feel nauseous or headachey, or my period is a little late (which it was by 5 days this cycle, which is unusual), my mind goes into this tailspin of "what if I'm pregnant?" where I'm envisioning scenarios which are alternately happy and terrifying. Then when my period comes I am relieved/disappointed. We are NOT trying at the moment.

Nothing has changed about our birth control methods in the past 5 years (no HBC, just condoms), and if anything we've been having less sex since moving to start grad school. The only thing that has changed is my relatively new obsession with babies and an interest in getting to know my cycle better - I've been keeping track of my dates and temperatures, but that's it. It's like I hope/fear that wanting to have a baby will cause condoms to stop working even though they've worked fine pretty much our whole relationship.

This mind game I'm playing with myself is emotionally exhausting each month and is resulting in tension between myself and my husband. He correctly sees the paranoia as directly relating to my baby-craziness, which I'm working hard to keep under control until we have it a bit more together than we do currently. Lately I've been pretty good about not talking about wanting a baby all the time, but how do I get the pregnancy paranoia out of control? Any suggestions? I'm thinking about stopping actively seeking out pregnancy stuff online (including this comm. maybe?) and maybe giving my bbt tracking a break, although being able to see when I've ovulated is sooo neat. Maybe this is totally normal, maybe not and I'm kind of crazy, but either way, feeling stressed about possible pregnancies that aren't real, or at least are not any more likely than they were before I was clucky, is disrupting my life right now, and I'd like to figure out how to relax about it, for my own sake. What do you guys think?

If you guys want to help out and vote for them here is the poll.

I'm not sure if this is allowed here but I tried to tag it as I saw fit so if not mods can delete this post if they'd like. :)

Bentos #37 and #38

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 12:07 PM
Basic bentos today for a planning meeting I'll be at for most of the day. Have no sitter so food for The Kidlet is a necessity. I am particularly proud of today's bentos as I managed to master making omelets Japanese-style! Plus mine is mostly transformed leftovers.

Two things! Hand sewing + stenciling halp?

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 10:51 AM
Hey ladies (and gents!)

I've got two questions:

1. Does anyone have any recommendations for either books or online tutorials for hand stitching? My hand stitching is awful and I would really like to improve it!

2. Any recommendations for stenciling? I've been making purses with a demon girl cameo on the front (using hand cut stencil plastic and fabric paint), but I'm having a hard time getting the paint to stay IN the stencil (and not blop out and ruin the silhouette). I'm also having a hard time getting details (like the eye lashes). I've tried using paint brushes and painting, miniature brushes for the small parts, rollers, squeegies, stamp brushes.. blah! Any recommendations would be very much appreciated :)

Note on the above: I also tried the method of using an embroidery hoop and organza with mod podge to fill out the non-stencil part, and paining in that but it also leaks a little. But honestly it might be me doing something poorly!

And so there is some visual niftiness, here's some things that I've made!

Thanks in advance! :)

Chapter 29 - Exposed
Author: Vermilion bird (autumn sparrow on FFN)
Rating: M for adult themes. Language, violence, character death, mech eroticism, torture and angst
Disclaimer: The only thing I own in this work of complete fiction is Velocity/Sira. She is mine. Everything else is copy righted and owned by some really rich people. I make no money from this, but wish I could.
Important Note: This series of fics were started before Revenge of the Fallen hit the theaters. This is a 2007 movie verse fic, NOT a ROTF fic.
Beta Read by: Okamichan and I-love-me-some-leggy-poo

Chapter Teaser: He needed to stay alert, and see the situation clearly. With his teammates further a field, the Autobots still held the tactical advantage of numbers while he only had surprise, but surprise could be a brutal weapon if wielded correctly.

1st post/Richard Scarry presents!

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 12:54 PM
I just found this community and am so excited!! I love sewing, especially stuffed animals/things for kiddos...I'm starting to get interested in quilting but haven't got a lot of time (full time student, part time job, soon to be mom...) at any rate, here are my latest projects!

Made for a little one celebrating his 1st birthday today: a Huckle Cat hat, made from a felted angora sweater and a Lowly Worm stuffed animal. Lowly is about 3ft tall and is all felt, all hand-sewn. The hat didn't end up looking as much like Huckle as I had imagined it would, but I am really excited about how Lowly turned out!

The Ace of Spades.

  • Nov. 15th, 2009 at 1:17 AM
It was one of my best friends' 18th birthday last Sunday, and she refused to have a party or do anything to celebrate it, in some part thanks to the fact that it was in the middle of our university's exam week. Yuck. So I took the responsibility upon myself to bake a cake and take it to last night's post-exams party of the uni Pantomime Society*.

It was my first real attempt at decorating a cake. I cheated and used packet mixes for the cake (vanilla on the bottom, chocolate on top, with vanilla icing in the middle). I don't know any fancy icing techniques, so I just used what was in the box, adding more icing sugar to the vanilla to make it whiter, and less butter to the chocolate to make it darker (I also put extra vanilla essence and some All-Spice into the vanilla icing, but I don't think you could taste it). The writing is in melted white chocolate with pink food dye :P.

Cake! )

*Pantomime is different to mime. It's basically a silly/smutty play with audience participation. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pantomime (The 'UWA Pantomime Society' mentioned under the Australia section is us!)

Christmas Dinner

  • Nov. 13th, 2009 at 11:56 PM
You know it's the holiday season when every other post here has something to do with Turkey Day or Christmas. Haha. Anyway, I'm hosting my first Christmas this year, and I'm really excited about it. My mother in law is so...well, she seems to think that if she eats anyone else's cooking but hers, she's going to spontaneously combust or something. I don't kno what her issue is, but I digress. I've got a tentative menu worked out in my head, and I'd like y'all's input.

Mmm, Christmas dinner, anyone? )</lj-cut
It's my friend's birthday party tomorrow (21st) and I said I'd make a cake. It's also bill paying time so I can't fork out the money to buy everything from scratch. Plus I bought him 2 liters of rum.
So, members of cooking, I need the best from the box recipes you have. Something that nobody will ever think I threw together tomorrow morning.

Thank you!

Similar to the post before mine about the remembrance scene...

Does anyone know where I could get a high quality version of it? the one on kh-vids.net is pretty bad, and I haven't been able to find it any better. I'd really appreciate it ^_^

Amigurumi base help?

  • Nov. 14th, 2009 at 9:11 AM
Hi...

I have started to make some little Amigurumi and since I don't have much money this year for gifts I thought I would make Amigurumi for my nephew...
now I have looked around and I haven't found something to help me much on my project... you see I am looking for a base pattern really beauce I want to make Astro as an Amigurumi I know someone did an Etsy for Astro the original version but my nephew only know the blue jacket version.

I'm pretty sure I can figure out the pointy parts by myself... but I would need a good base body... Any free patterns I could base this off?

Thank you for your help, I personally would like the old version of Astro but kids nowdays...if it's not close it's no cigar...

X-cross posted in like communities...

Paula Deen's Red Velvet Cake

  • Nov. 13th, 2009 at 6:20 PM
After trying numerous times to bake a red velvet cake... I have finally done it! I listened to everyone's suggestion and bought a creme based food dye from Wilton. It was the U.S. red color and not Canadian (stupid pink tones!), the cake finally turned red! However, I don't think I let the butter or cream cheese get completely to room temperature as it was a little bumpy after mixing. Nonetheless it was wonderful!

Golden boy, born to love

Look who is ready <3 Well, almost ready, he needs his eyes beveled and proper eyes, those 12mms I have are too small. I'm searching the internet for the good eyes, wish me luck. I like him much more now than when he was Heliot, this head feels much more like my doll. Heliot is ethereal and would make an excellent high elf, Kasis is more earthly (or maybe heavenly in Mirwaise's case ;D) and just has more character even in bare sculpt. I'm glad that I switched, I've had bonding problems with Mirwaise and even thought of selling him, but now when things clicked...well, it's a good feeling.

I just need to make him more clothes, all clothes I have for him feel somehow lame >_>
